IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The chart and table below show the results of a survey of library users at a university.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Categories of library users

Student answer (Band 7.0)

The pie chart illustrates the proportion of library members in terms of five different age categories, table shows the percantage of total loans by catagory, whereas the bar chart compares the the number of loan from 2007 to 2016.

Overall, adults (18-64) made up the largest proportion of library members. Children's fiction and adult fictions were the most popular in loans category. In contrast, total number of loans experience an upward trend although there were some Tlactuations.

Looking first at the library members, people aged 18-64 accounted for 51%. Children were the second largest group at 22%, followed by adults 65 and over with 15% and young adults with 12%.

Regarding the book borrowed, both children's fiction and adult fiction equally popular, accounting for 38%. Children's DVDs was least popular making up with 1%. Whereas, adult audio books and young adults represented same percentage with 2%.

In 2007, total number of loan was around 16000 and grew moderately to about 21000 by 2011. After a slight fall in 2013, the figure rose again reaching approximately 22000 in 2016.
