Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers the main features of the data, including user categories and satisfaction levels. However, the reporting is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear overview or synthesis of the data. While the key figures are mentioned, the comparison between categories is limited. The structure is a bit disjointed, and some data points are presented in a list-like fashion rather than as a cohesive summary. To improve, you should aim to group related information more effectively and provide a clear introductory overview that highlights the most significant trends, such as the high satisfaction with staff versus the lower satisfaction regarding journal availability.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression between sentences is often weak. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes repetitive (e.g., 'on the 2nd of the list', 'on the third in the list'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of information. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks sophisticated linking. Improving the use of transition words and ensuring that each sentence builds logically upon the previous one would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'minimal in their counting' instead of 'the smallest group' and 'community are fairly satisfied' instead of 'respondents'. The repetition of basic terms like 'satisfy' and 'list' limits the range. To achieve a higher band, you should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'majority', 'minority', and 'fluctuate', and ensure correct word forms are used (e.g., 'satisfied' instead of 'satisfy').
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Pupils who uses'), incorrect article usage, and awkward sentence construction (e.g., 'WIFI service took 4th number'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and periods. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence structure and proofreading for basic agreement errors would be beneficial.
