Student answer (Band 7.0)

The pie chart and table illustrate the results of a university library survey, showing the categories of library users and their levels of satisfaction with five aspects of the library's services.

Overall, full-time undergraduate students accounted for by far largest proportion of library users, whereas academic staff represented the smallest group. In terms of satisfaction, respondents were generally positive, with the helpfulness of staff receiving the highest approval, while the availability of journals and the reliability of Wi-Fi attracted the greatest levels of dissatisfaction.

Regarding the categories of users, full-time undergraduates made up 44% of all library users, making them the dominant group. Full-time postgraduates were the second-largest category at 25%, followed by part-time postgraduates, who accounted for 16%. By contrast, distance-learning students represented only 8%, while academic staff comprised the smallest proportion, at 7%.

With regard to user satisfaction, the helpfulness of staff received the most favourable feedback, with 95% of respondents being very satisfied and the remaining 5% fairly satisfied. Library opening hours also performed well, as 65% were very satisfied and 35% fairly satisfied. Satisfaction was comparatively lower for the availability of books, with 10% expressing dissatisfaction. The poorest results were recorded for the availability of journals and the reliability of Wi-Fi, where 20% and 19% of users, respectively, were not satisfied.
