The chart and table below show the results of a survey of library users at a university.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The pie chart shows the different categories of people who use a university library, while the table gives information about their satisfaction with the library services.

Overall, full-time undergraduate students were the largest group of library users, while academic staff were the smallest group. In addition, most users were satisfied with the library services, especially the helpfulness of staff.

Full-time undergraduate students made up 44% of all library users. Full-time postgraduate students were the second largest group, at 25%. Part-time postgraduate students accounted for 16%. Distance-learning students represented 8%, while academic staff made up the smallest proportion, at only 7%.

Regarding satisfaction, 95% of users were very satisfied with the helpfulness of staff, while only 5% were fairly satisfied. For library opening hours, 65% were very satisfied and 35% were fairly satisfied. Half of the users were very satisfied with the availability of books, compared with 40% who were fairly satisfied and 10% who were not satisfied. For journals, 45% were very satisfied, while the figure for Wi-Fi reliability was slightly higher, at 48%.
