Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the data, including the breakdown of user categories and the satisfaction levels. However, the report lacks a clear overview or summary of the trends, which is essential for Task 1. The data is presented in a list-like fashion rather than being synthesised into meaningful comparisons. For instance, while you mention the percentages for user categories, you do not explicitly compare the groups to highlight the dominance of undergraduates. To improve, ensure you group related data points logically and provide a clear summary statement in the introduction or conclusion that captures the most significant trends observed in the charts.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow between sentences is somewhat mechanical. You use cohesive devices like 'In the first instance', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore', but these are sometimes used inappropriately, making the progression feel disjointed. The transition between the user categories and the satisfaction levels is abrupt. To improve, focus on grouping information by theme (e.g., one paragraph for user demographics and another for satisfaction metrics) and use cohesive devices to link ideas more naturally rather than just listing statistics. The referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly when shifting between different survey metrics.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety expected for higher bands. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'taken most advantage of' and 'very happy'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'academic are consist of' and 'far less behind them', which are grammatically and lexically incorrect. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to data reporting, such as 'constitute', 'account for', 'the majority of', and 'proportion'. Expanding your range of reporting verbs and adjectives will help convey the information more professionally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'academic are consist of', 'the ratio of 65% and 35% are', and 'in case of reliability of wi-fi'. There are also issues with article usage and subject-verb agreement. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your sentence structures are grammatically sound before attempting more complex forms.
