Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which severely impacts the ability to fully address the task. While you have attempted to identify some features of the chart and table, the response is incomplete and cuts off mid-sentence. Because the summary is unfinished, you have failed to report on all the main features or make the necessary comparisons required for an Academic Task 1 response. To improve, you must ensure you provide a complete overview and cover all data points presented in the visual aids, ensuring the response meets the minimum length requirement to allow for full development of ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response shows a basic attempt at paragraphing, with an introduction and a brief overview. However, because the text is incomplete, the logical progression of ideas is interrupted. Cohesive devices are used in a very limited and mechanical way, such as 'Looking at the first one' and 'Turning to the second one'. These transitions are somewhat informal. To achieve a higher band, you should focus on creating a more cohesive flow between sentences and paragraphs, using a wider variety of linking words to connect your observations and comparisons more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but remains quite basic. You have used some relevant terms like 'percentage', 'dissatisfied', and 'frustration', but the range is limited. There are also minor issues with word choice, such as 'staffs courteousness' (which should be 'staff's courteousness' or 'courtesy of the staff'). To improve, you should aim to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary to describe trends and data, such as 'proportion', 'significant', or 'notable', rather than relying on simple descriptive phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple sentence structures. There are some grammatical errors, such as the repetition of 'of the of the' in the third paragraph and the incomplete sentence at the end. Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the overall range of structures is limited. To improve, you should practice using a wider variety of complex sentence structures, such as relative clauses or passive voice, which are common in data reporting. Additionally, ensure you proofread to eliminate basic errors and ensure all sentences are complete.
