Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the data, including the breakdown of library users and the satisfaction survey results. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. For instance, the comparison between postgraduate and part-time students is unclear ('8% higher than part-time'), and the description of the table lacks precision in interpreting the satisfaction levels. While the main trends are identified, the report would benefit from a more accurate synthesis of the data points provided in the table, particularly regarding the 'not satisfied' categories. The overview is present but could be more effectively integrated to highlight the most significant trends rather than just listing observations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'To initiate with pie chart' and 'There are no anyone'. The progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing, making the logical flow feel disjointed. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the transition between the pie chart analysis and the table analysis is abrupt. While there is an attempt to use linking words, they are not always used with the flexibility required for a higher band.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'the pupils more satisfied with the helpful staff members' and 'the table shown the amenities'. The student relies on basic vocabulary and struggles to use more precise terms to describe data trends (e.g., 'minor changes' instead of 'slight variations' or 'fluctuations'). While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of variety and the presence of errors in word formation and usage restrict the score in this criterion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's understanding. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('the table shown', 'students satisfie'), article usage, and sentence structure ('There are no anyone who do not like'). The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with some attempts at complex ones that are often faulty. Punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, the student needs to focus on basic sentence construction and ensuring that verbs and nouns agree correctly.
