Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the data, such as the highest and lowest categories and satisfaction ratings. However, it fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the development of the response. While the key information is identified, the analysis is somewhat superficial and lacks the depth required for a higher band. The failure to reach the minimum length means the task is not fully addressed in terms of the expected level of detail and summary.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. There is a clear overall progression from the introduction to the categories and then the satisfaction levels. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'Regarding', 'Speaking of', 'Additionally'). Some transitions are missing or awkward, such as the abrupt start to the second paragraph. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the flow of the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are some awkward collocations and phrasing, such as 'accounted the highest proportion' (missing 'for') and 'received the most number of dissatisfaction'. The range of vocabulary is limited, relying heavily on simple descriptors. To improve, you should aim to use more sophisticated synonyms for 'highest' or 'lowest' and ensure that word choices are grammatically accurate in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempts at complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as missing prepositions ('accounted the highest'), incorrect article usage, and punctuation issues. For example, '95% students were very satisfied' should be '95% of students'. These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader, though they do not completely impede communication. Increasing the accuracy of basic sentence construction is necessary before focusing on more complex structures.
