Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task by summarizing both the pie chart and the table. You have successfully identified the main features, such as the largest user group (undergraduates) and the highest satisfaction rating (staff helpfulness). However, the report lacks sufficient comparative analysis. For instance, instead of just listing percentages for satisfaction, you could have compared the high satisfaction for staff with the lower satisfaction for Wi-Fi or journals. Additionally, the description of the data is somewhat mechanical, listing figures rather than synthesizing them into a cohesive overview. To reach a higher band, ensure you group related data points and highlight significant trends or contrasts more explicitly.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use some cohesive devices like 'It is clearly visible that' and 'Overall', though these are somewhat repetitive. The progression of ideas is generally clear, moving from user categories to satisfaction levels. However, the connection between sentences could be smoother; some sentences feel like a list of statistics rather than a flowing report. Improving the use of linking words (e.g., 'conversely', 'in contrast', 'furthermore') would help to better connect the data points and enhance the overall flow of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey the information, such as 'satisfaction reviews', 'facilities', and 'respectively'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'Rating of staff helpfulness is on peak' (should be 'at its peak') and '50% folks' (too informal for an academic task). The use of 'encouraging' to describe journal availability is also imprecise. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and avoiding informal language like 'folks'. Expanding your range of descriptive verbs and adjectives will help you achieve a more precise and professional tone.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors. For example, 'majority of the library users are full time undergraduate' (should be 'undergraduates'), 'Least users are from' (should be 'The fewest users'), and '50% folks are satisfied' (should be '50% of users'). There are also issues with article usage and pluralization. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles to improve your accuracy.
