Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main features of both the chart and the table, providing a clear overview and supporting details. You made relevant comparisons, such as noting the highest and lowest categories. However, the report could be improved by ensuring data accuracy; for instance, you stated 'Academic staff represented lowest figure (7%)' while the chart shows distance learning at 8% and academic staff at 7%, which is correct, but your description of the table data regarding dissatisfaction is slightly confusing. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are clearly linked to the specific categories they represent without ambiguity.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'Meanwhile', 'In addition', and 'Similarly' to connect ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final sentence where the list of percentages is difficult to follow. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two distinct data sets (chart vs. table). To improve, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensuring that the relationship between sentences is always explicit.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'satisfied', and 'dissatisfied'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'satisfied from management' (should be 'satisfied with') and 'had not satisfied reviews' (should be 'received negative reviews'). While you attempt to use some less common vocabulary, the inaccuracies occasionally hinder the precision of your report. Increasing your familiarity with common collocations related to data description will help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('table provides', 'represented lowest figure') and incorrect preposition usage ('satisfied from'). Additionally, there is a minor punctuation error with the bracket spacing. While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede the overall communication of the data. To improve, pay closer attention to article usage and ensure that your sentence structures are consistently accurate when reporting complex data sets.
