Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main features of both the pie chart and the table. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with relevant data, such as the 44% for full-time undergraduates and the 95% satisfaction rate for staff helpfulness. However, the report could be improved by making more direct comparisons between the categories rather than listing them sequentially. Additionally, there are some inaccuracies in data reporting, such as the mention of '$0 %' for the table, which is a typographical error that slightly affects the clarity of the information presented.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized into paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on the chart and table respectively. You use some cohesive devices like 'Additionally', 'Moreover', and 'Turning to', which help the flow of information. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the connection between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the discussion of books and journals in the final paragraph is a bit abrupt. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, but the use of cohesive devices could be more varied and natural.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'utilization', 'punctual', and 'reliability'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing or incorrect word choices, such as 'inspection took place' instead of 'survey conducted', and 'held most proportion' instead of 'accounted for the largest proportion'. There are also minor errors in word formation and spelling, such as 'notice able' and 'gird' instead of 'grid'. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the response from reaching a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('academic staff was least recorded'), incorrect article usage, and punctuation errors. For instance, 'Both, Distance learning and Academic staff utilize the library in rare case' contains awkward phrasing and punctuation. Additionally, there are several typos, such as 'ere' instead of 'were'. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors indicates that you have not yet achieved consistent control over complex structures.
