Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main features of the data, including the user categories and the satisfaction levels. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with relevant figures. However, the response lacks a more sophisticated comparison between the categories and the satisfaction metrics. For instance, you could have linked the high satisfaction with staff to the specific user groups. Additionally, there are some inaccuracies in data reporting, such as stating '95 users are very satisfied' when the table actually shows percentages. Ensuring that you distinguish between raw numbers and percentages is crucial for a higher score in this criterion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices like 'While', 'Overall', and 'followed by', which help the flow of information. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. For example, the transition between the user categories and the satisfaction data is a bit abrupt. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus. The referencing is generally clear, but the paragraphing could be more effectively used to separate the two distinct data sets (the chart and the table) more distinctly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey the main points, such as 'approximately', 'respectively', and 'categories'. However, there are several spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'shoe' instead of 'show', 'udergraduate', 'availabily', 'journels', and 'disastisfied'. These errors are noticeable and detract from the professional tone of the report. To reach a higher band, you need to demonstrate more precise word choice and ensure accurate spelling of key terms related to the task. Using more varied synonyms for 'users' or 'satisfied' would also enhance your lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is a good start. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles ('a library users at a a university'), subject-verb agreement issues ('pie chart display', 'table shoe'), and awkward phrasing ('large numbers of users are accounted from'). These errors occur frequently enough to occasionally impede the reader's flow. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, particularly the use of articles and pluralization. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of grammatical control prevents a higher score in this area.
