Categories of library users
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The pie chart illustrates the five different categories of library users in university, while table chart compares the satisfaction about the services provided by the library .
Overall, pie chart showed that major proportion of users belongs to full-time undergraduate and full-time post graduates, whereas table showed that students satisfied with the library opening hours and assistance provided by their staff.
It is evident from the pie chart that full-time graduates account for 44% of users which was more than that of full-time postgraduates which were only a quarter of users. On the other hand, part-time postgraduates represent just under one-fifth and insignificant proportions were exhausted by distance learners and academic staff which was merely 8% and 7%, respectively.
From table graph, it showed that majority of students were showing satisfied and fairly satisfied results with opening hours of library which was 65% and 35% and for the availability of books which was approximately half and two-fifths and one tenth were not satisfied. Interestingly, 95% of students were very satisfied with the helpfulness of staff, only 5% were fairly satisfied. Also, wi-fi services and availability of journals showed almost similar results in.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features of both the pie chart and the table. You successfully selected key data points, such as the 44% for full-time graduates and the 95% satisfaction rate for staff helpfulness. However, the analysis is slightly hampered by some inaccuracies in data reporting; for instance, you state that 44% is 'more than' 25% (a quarter), which is true but lacks analytical depth. Additionally, the description of the table data is somewhat fragmented, and the comparison between categories could be more integrated. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are accurately transcribed and that comparisons are more explicitly linked to the overall trends.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Overall', 'It is evident', and 'On the other hand', to guide the reader. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions between sentences are abrupt. For example, the final sentence of the second body paragraph ('Also, wi-fi services and availability of journals showed almost similar results in.') is incomplete and lacks a clear connection to the preceding information. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that every sentence is complete will enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'represent', and 'insignificant'. However, there are some noticeable errors in word choice and collocation that slightly impede the flow. For example, 'table graph' is redundant, 'exhausted by' is an incorrect collocation for describing data proportions, and 'showing satisfied and fairly satisfied results' is awkward phrasing. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main points, you need to focus on more precise and natural collocations to move into the higher band range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the table graph', 'the library'), subject-verb agreement ('pie chart showed', 'table showed'), and preposition usage. Some sentences are also structurally incomplete or awkward, such as 'insignificant proportions were exhausted by distance learners'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points, they occur frequently enough to limit the score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and sentence completeness will significantly improve your performance.
