Categories of library users
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The chart illustrates the results of a survey conducted in five categories of library users and the table gives information about their proportional satisfaction of the facilities available in the library in a university.
Overall, it is clear that most of the categories of library users increased with the exception of academic staff and distance learning students of all courses. However the full-time undergraduate students recorded the highest proportion of library users, followed by the full-time postgraduate candidates category. Meanwhile, most of these users got very satisfied with the facilities available in the library and just a little percentage were fairly satisfied. Just a few number of these subscribers were not satisfied with certain areas of the library.
Lookin first at the categories that recorded the highest percentage of library subscribers, the full-time undergraduate category had the highest number of users in the university with 44%, followed by the full-time postgraduate sector which have 25% of library users. The part-time postgraduate students rose marginally in the university with just 16% of users. However, both academic staff and distance learning learners who offer all course experienced the least proportion of subscribers with 7% and 8% respectively.
The table present the ratio of the satisfaction of these users in five areas of the library. 95% of them were very satisfied with the way how staff in the library helped them and 5% of them were fairly satisfied with them. Nearly two-third majority of these users were okay with opening hours of the library and 35% of them got fairly satisfied. Sequentially, 50% and 45% of them are very satisfied with the books and journals available in the library accordingly. However, just 40% and 35% were fairly satisfied and 10% and 20% are not satisfied accordingly with these facilities. Looking at the reliability of the Wi-Fi in the library 48% were very satisfied and 33% were fairly satisfied and just 19% of them are not satisfied with it.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main features of the data and provided relevant comparisons. You covered both the chart (user categories) and the table (satisfaction levels). However, there are some inaccuracies in your interpretation. For instance, you mention that most categories 'increased,' but the chart is a static snapshot of user categories, not a trend over time. Additionally, your description of the table data is slightly confusing; you attempt to list percentages for all categories of satisfaction, which makes the report feel like a list of numbers rather than a synthesis of key trends. To improve, focus on highlighting the most significant differences and similarities rather than listing every data point.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized into paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices like 'Meanwhile,' 'However,' and 'Sequentially' to link ideas. However, the use of 'Sequentially' is slightly unnatural in this context. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the transition between the chart analysis and the table analysis could be smoother. The referencing is mostly clear, though some sentences are slightly repetitive in structure, which affects the flow. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate and the information is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportional satisfaction,' 'subscribers,' and 'recorded.' There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'subscribers' to refer to library users, which is not the most precise term in an academic context. You also have some awkward phrasing, such as 'the way how staff in the library helped them.' While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, it lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band score. Expanding your range of reporting verbs and descriptive adjectives would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you manage to communicate your points, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text. For example, 'the table present' should be 'the table presents,' and 'the way how staff' is grammatically incorrect. You also have issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'postgraduate sector which have' instead of 'which has.' There are also some inconsistencies in tense usage when describing the data. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score.
