Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have successfully identified the main features of the chart and table. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with relevant data from the prompt. However, the response lacks meaningful comparisons between the categories. For instance, instead of just listing percentages, you could have noted that full-time graduates were significantly more numerous than academic staff. Additionally, the description of the table data is somewhat repetitive, listing percentages without synthesizing the information to highlight trends or contrasts. To reach a higher band, focus on grouping related data points and making direct comparisons between the different user groups and satisfaction metrics rather than simply reporting the figures sequentially.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Overall', 'After that', and 'Another approach'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally repetitive. For example, starting multiple sentences with 'After that' or 'The table show' creates a predictable pattern. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and transition phrases to connect your ideas more fluidly. Ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through the data being presented.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'satisfaction level', 'depicts', and 'respectively'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'little happy' or 'little satisfied', which are not natural in an academic context. You also repeat the word 'satisfied' frequently. To improve, aim for more precise vocabulary to describe degrees of satisfaction, such as 'content', 'dissatisfied', or 'highly satisfied'. Expanding your range of synonyms for 'show' and 'measure' would also help elevate the quality of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Subject-verb agreement is a recurring issue, such as 'The chart and the table shows' (should be 'show') and 'The table show' (should be 'shows'). Additionally, there are errors with pluralization and articles, such as '19% people was not satisfied' (should be 'were'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the information, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall accuracy. Focus on proofreading for basic agreement and verb tense consistency to improve your score.
