Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the data, such as the largest and smallest categories of users and the satisfaction levels. However, the report lacks a clear overview or summary of the trends. The description of the data is somewhat mechanical, and there are inaccuracies in the reporting of figures (e.g., stating 'zero satisfied on 20 percent' for journals, which is confusing). To improve, you should group the data more logically and ensure that the comparisons are accurate and clearly stated. The response addresses the prompt but lacks the analytical depth required for a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is often awkward or incorrect, such as 'on the hand side' and 'the second mirror potion'. The transition between the pie chart and the table is abrupt. While there is an attempt to use linking words like 'however' and 'in contrast', they are often used inappropriately or repetitively. Improving the flow between sentences and using a wider variety of cohesive devices would significantly enhance the readability and coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are several instances of incorrect word choice, such as 'mirror category' instead of 'minor category' and 'potion' instead of 'portion'. The phrasing is often unnatural, which hinders the clarity of the report. To achieve a higher score, you should focus on using more precise terminology related to data description (e.g., 'account for', 'constitute', 'proportion') and avoid repeating the same sentence structures. Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic collocations will help you convey information more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement, punctuation, and sentence structure. For example, 'overall the major categorie of library is used' should be 'Overall, the major category of library users is...'. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the existing sentences are often fragmented or poorly constructed. The frequent errors in basic grammar and the lack of variety in sentence forms make the text difficult to follow at times. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors will help improve your accuracy.
