Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the data, including the breakdown of library users and the satisfaction levels. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. For example, the mention of '485 of users' is a clear error in interpreting the data (likely meant 48%), and the comparison between categories is basic. While the overview identifies the main trends, the supporting details lack precision. To reach a higher band, you should ensure that all data points are accurately transcribed and that comparisons are more analytical rather than just listing figures. The response addresses all parts of the prompt, but the accuracy of the data reporting is inconsistent, which limits the overall effectiveness of the summary.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on the chart and the table respectively. There is a clear progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Following that full-time postgraduate students remain at 25%'. The transition between the two main data sets is functional but could be smoother. Referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect the data points more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety expected at higher bands. Phrases like 'stands at top' and 'got minimum satisfaction rate' are somewhat informal and repetitive. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'top-gainer', which is not the most appropriate term for survey satisfaction data. While the range is sufficient to convey the main points, there is little evidence of less common lexical items or sophisticated collocations. Improving your range of descriptive verbs and adjectives would help elevate your score in this criterion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There are several grammatical errors throughout the text. Subject-verb agreement is inconsistent, such as 'The pie chart and table illustrates' (should be 'illustrate') and 'distance learning has showing' (should be 'show'). There are also errors with articles and prepositions, such as 'using more library' (should be 'using the library') and 'at the top of the list of library users survey'. While you attempt some complex structures, the frequency of errors is noticeable. To improve, focus on basic subject-verb agreement and ensure that your sentence structures are grammatically sound before attempting more complex forms.
