The pie chart provides the distribution of the six different types of library users, while the table displays the result of the survey on five services of the library in terms of satisfaction levels.

Overall, full-time undergraduates accounted for the largest proportion among all library users, while academic staff represented the smallest share. Similarly, library opening hours and helpfulness of staff received the highest satisfaction level.

Regarding the categories of library users, full-time undergraduates represented the highest share, accounting for 44%. However, full-time postgraduates reported 25% of the total users. Part-time graduates, on the other hand, contributed 16%, whereas distance learning users and academic staff accounted for only 8% and 7%, respectively.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response effectively covers all parts of the task. You have provided a clear overview and selected key features from both the pie chart and the table. The data is accurately reported, and you have made relevant comparisons, such as noting the contrast between the highest and lowest user categories. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points in the table are clearly identified; for instance, in the fourth paragraph, you mention 'these services' and 'this service' without explicitly naming the specific library service being discussed (e.g., 'study space' or 'IT facilities'), which makes the reader work harder to follow your analysis.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'Regarding', 'Turning to', 'on the other hand', and 'nevertheless' to guide the reader. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two distinct data sets. However, the cohesion within the final paragraph is slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally ambiguous, as seen in the sentence 'Additionally, 50% of the respondents were very satisfied...', where the specific service being referred to is missing. Improving the clarity of these references would enhance the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey information with precision. Phrases like 'accounted for the largest proportion', 'represented the smallest share', and 'satisfaction levels' are used effectively. There is some repetition of 'satisfied' and 'proportion', but this is expected given the nature of the task. You attempt to use less common vocabulary, and while there are no major errors, the writing style is functional rather than sophisticated. To improve, try to vary your reporting verbs and adjectives to describe the data more dynamically.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as the use of 'while' and 'whereas' to create contrast. Most sentences are error-free, and your control of punctuation is generally good. There are a few minor slips, such as 'Turning to the satisfaction levels of the user' (should be plural 'users') and 'accounting for 20%' (a sentence fragment). Despite these minor issues, your grammar is accurate enough to ensure that the meaning is always clear. Increasing the variety of complex structures would help push this score higher.
