Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully identified and reported the main features of both the pie chart and the table. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with relevant data from the prompt. The comparison between user categories and satisfaction levels is well-structured. To reach a higher band, ensure that you consistently compare data points rather than just listing them. For instance, when discussing satisfaction, you could group the services by high and low satisfaction levels more explicitly to highlight the contrast between 'helpfulness of staff' and 'availability of journals'. Overall, you have covered all parts of the task well.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use a variety of cohesive devices such as 'Regarding', 'Turning to', 'However', and 'Nevertheless' to guide the reader through the information. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the two distinct data sets. The progression of ideas is clear throughout the text. To improve further, ensure that the transition between sentences feels natural; occasionally, the use of 'on the other hand' is slightly repetitive. Overall, the information is presented in a coherent and easy-to-follow manner.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey information with precision, such as 'accounted for', 'represented', and 'distribution'. You use some less common items appropriately, like 'respondents' and 'proportion'. There are no significant errors in word choice that impede communication. To move into the higher bands, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations or synonyms to avoid repeating phrases like 'accounted for' or 'satisfied with'. For example, you could use 'constituted' or 'comprised' to vary your reporting verbs.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures effectively. Most of your sentences are error-free, and your control over punctuation is generally good. There are a few minor slips, such as 'Turning to the satisfaction levels of the user' (should be plural 'users') and 'While the largest proportion were dissatisfied with this service, accounting for 20%' (this is a sentence fragment). Despite these minor issues, your grammar is strong and does not hinder the reader's understanding. Increasing the variety of complex structures would further enhance this score.
