Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features of both the pie chart and the table. You successfully highlighted the dominant user category (full-time undergraduates) and the general trend of high satisfaction levels. However, the analysis is somewhat descriptive rather than analytical. For instance, you list the percentages for each category without making sufficient comparisons between them. To reach a higher band, focus on grouping data points to highlight trends rather than simply listing figures. While the main features are clear, the overview could be more concise and better integrated to provide a clearer summary of the overall data trends.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, a body paragraph for the chart, and a body paragraph for the table. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'the chart' or 'the table'. Some transitions, like 'Moving forward to the table', are functional but basic. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the internal cohesion within sentences is sometimes hindered by grammatical errors, which makes the flow feel slightly disjointed in places. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'contributed', and 'individuals'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'high amount of people' (should be 'large number of people'), 'on second number' (should be 'in second place'), and 'very fewer peoples' (should be 'very few people'). These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding the intended meaning. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that nouns are used correctly in their plural or singular forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('full-time undergraduates dominates', 'people who uses library'), missing articles ('at last which covers'), and awkward phrasing ('all other parts are same in very satisfied users dominates'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall clarity. To improve, pay closer attention to basic subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, as these are foundational elements that currently detract from your score.
