Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main features of both the chart and the table. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with relevant data from the prompt. However, there is a minor inaccuracy in your data reporting: you stated that part-time postgraduates accounted for 8%, but the chart indicates this category is 16%. Additionally, the description of the satisfaction data is slightly cluttered. To improve, ensure you group related data points more logically and double-check your transcription of figures to ensure complete accuracy in your reporting.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized into paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Turning to', and 'however' to link ideas. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the flow within the final paragraph is a bit disjointed due to the complex listing of percentages. Using more varied linking phrases and ensuring that comparisons are clearly signposted would help improve the overall flow and readability of your report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'accounted for', 'category', and 'satisfaction'. There are some instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'the least users are distance learning' (should be 'the fewest users') and 'the helpfulness of staff are very satisfied to 95% users' (which is grammatically incorrect and confusing). To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive sentence structures when describing data trends.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are several grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('the helpfulness of staff are very satisfied') and incorrect preposition usage. The sentence 'the category of library opening hours are very satisfied to 65% learners' is also structurally unclear. While your meaning is generally understood, you need to pay closer attention to basic grammar rules and sentence construction to ensure your writing is more accurate and professional.
