Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task by summarizing the pie chart and the table. You successfully identified the main features, such as the dominance of full-time undergraduates and the high satisfaction levels regarding staff helpfulness. However, the overview is slightly confusing; you mention 'full-time graduates' in the conclusion, but the chart refers to 'full-time undergraduates'. Additionally, the final sentence is incomplete, which impacts the overall clarity of your summary. To improve, ensure your overview clearly highlights the most significant trends without introducing contradictory information or leaving sentences unfinished.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore', 'Turning to', and 'Conclusively' to link ideas. However, the progression of ideas is occasionally mechanical, and the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the transition into the table data. The final paragraph is disjointed due to the incomplete sentence, which disrupts the flow of the conclusion. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, complete focus would enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'depicts', 'notable feature', and 'satisfied'. However, there are frequent spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'satisfication', 'availbility', 'exteremly', 'gartified', and 'resonably'. These errors are noticeable and detract from the professional tone of the report. While the meaning remains clear, you need to focus on accuracy in spelling and word formation to reach a higher band. Using more precise collocations would also help elevate your lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'the max user of library services are' (subject-verb agreement), 'students level of satisfication' (missing possessive apostrophe), and '10% vehememtly opposed' (tense inconsistency). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas and periods. While these errors rarely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to limit your score. Focusing on proofreading for basic agreement and punctuation would significantly improve your accuracy.
