Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the data, such as the highest and lowest categories of library users and satisfaction levels. However, the report lacks a clear overview or summary of the trends, which is essential for Task 1. The presentation of data is somewhat mechanical, listing figures without sufficient synthesis or comparison. For instance, stating '44% much then the others' is vague and lacks analytical depth. To improve, you should group related data points more effectively and provide a clear opening statement that highlights the most significant trends rather than just describing the table and chart.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is limited and often inaccurate, such as 'Let me explain that' or 'Here I elaborate', which are inappropriate for an academic report. The transition between the user categories and the satisfaction survey is abrupt. To improve, use more formal linking words such as 'In terms of', 'Regarding', or 'Conversely' to connect your ideas. Additionally, ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus and that sentences flow logically from one to the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic structures like 'is' and 'included'. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'helpfulness of the staff satisfaction' instead of 'satisfaction with staff helpfulness' and 'reliability on wifi' instead of 'reliability of the Wi-Fi'. The phrasing 'quite less then' is also incorrect. To reach a higher band, you need to use a wider range of vocabulary related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'majority', 'minority', and 'significantly', while ensuring correct word forms and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are consistent issues with comparative structures ('much then' instead of 'much higher than'), subject-verb agreement ('The table and chart shows'), and article usage. Sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is a lack of complex grammatical forms. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically the correct use of comparatives and prepositions. You should also practice using complex sentences with subordinate clauses to demonstrate a wider range of grammatical control.
