Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to summarize the data but fails to provide a clear, logical overview of the main trends. While some figures are mentioned, the selection of data is disjointed, and the comparison between the different categories (user types vs. satisfaction levels) is confusing. The report lacks a cohesive summary of the key features, often listing numbers without explaining their significance or relationship to the overall survey. To improve, focus on grouping related data points together and ensuring the 'overview' paragraph highlights the most significant trends rather than just listing isolated statistics.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often unclear. The use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or misused, such as 'In addition to,' which is grammatically incomplete. Referencing is also problematic; for example, the transition 'Moving towards the rest of the information' is vague and does not effectively link the disparate data sets. The logical flow is hindered by sentences that jump between different categories of the survey without clear transitions, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. There are issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'highest ratio of user satisfaction... in very satisfied' and 'percentile of library user.' The term 'ratio' is used incorrectly to describe percentages. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of precision and the reliance on basic phrasing prevent a higher score. To improve, use more precise terminology for data reporting, such as 'proportion,' 'percentage,' or 'figure,' and ensure collocations like 'level of satisfaction' are used correctly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with article usage ('the combination of pie chart and table chart'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure (e.g., '5% of user satisfaction... which could be considered as the lowest figure' is a fragment). Punctuation errors, such as the comma placement in 'approximately,8%,' are also present. While the writer attempts some complex structures, they are often faulty. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve the accuracy of the writing.
