Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

You have successfully identified the main features of both the chart and the table. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with data from the prompt. However, there are some inaccuracies in your reporting of the data. For instance, you state that 'full time postgraduate had a 25% users', whereas the chart indicates 35%. Additionally, your comparison of academic staff and distance learning is slightly confusing. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are transcribed accurately from the source material and that comparisons are clearly linked to the specific categories mentioned.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organised into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs focusing on the two different data sets. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In terms of', 'whereas', and 'regarding', which helps the flow of information. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Whereas., availability of journals'. The referencing is generally clear, but the overall progression could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring punctuation is used correctly around these devices will help improve the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to describe the data, using terms like 'proportion', 'enrollment', and 'satisfaction'. However, there are several errors in word choice and form, such as 'illustare' (illustrate), 'fairy satisfied' (fairly satisfied), and 'Available of books' (Availability of books). These errors occasionally distract the reader. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure you are using the correct word forms (e.g., nouns vs. adjectives). Expanding your range of reporting verbs and descriptive phrases would also help you move into a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'students enroll in' (should be 'students enrolled in'), 'accounted with double proportion then' (should be 'accounted for double the proportion of'), and 'There was a only 1% difference'. These errors, while not impeding communication, are frequent enough to affect the overall fluency. You should focus on subject-verb agreement, correct preposition usage, and ensuring that your sentence structures are grammatically sound. Proofreading for basic errors like missing articles or incorrect verb tenses is essential.
