Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

You have successfully identified the main features of the data and provided relevant comparisons. You covered both the categories of users and the satisfaction levels. However, the reporting of figures is sometimes confusing, particularly in the second paragraph where the comparison of academic staff and distance learning students is unclear. Additionally, the description of satisfaction levels becomes repetitive and lacks a clear structure, making it difficult for the reader to follow the trends. To improve, ensure that you group related data points more logically and avoid listing every single percentage, as this can obscure the main trends you are trying to highlight.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader navigate the information. You use some cohesive devices like 'Overall' and 'Moreover' to link ideas. However, the progression within the second paragraph is weak. The sentences often feel like a list of statistics rather than a cohesive analysis. The referencing is sometimes ambiguous, such as when you mention 'they' or 'them' without a clear antecedent. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider range of linking words and ensure that each sentence flows logically from the previous one, rather than just presenting data points in isolation.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to describe the data clearly enough to be understood. You use terms like 'illustrates', 'compares', and 'satisfaction' correctly. However, there is a lack of variety in your phrasing, and some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'on the top list' or 'are difference of one percent'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'account for', 'constitute', or 'a significant proportion'. Expanding your range of synonyms for 'satisfied' or 'happy' would also enhance the quality of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. For example, 'Students are satisfy with the staff' should be 'Students are satisfied with the staff', and 'are difference by 5 percent' is grammatically incorrect. There are also issues with punctuation and sentence fragments. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of adjectives versus verbs to ensure your sentences are grammatically sound.
