Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have provided a comprehensive and accurate summary of the data. You successfully identified the main features of both the pie chart and the table, including the largest and smallest categories of users and the key trends in satisfaction levels. The comparisons are relevant and well-integrated, such as noting that full-time undergraduates and postgraduates together made up 69% of users. The data is accurately reported throughout, and the overview provides a clear summary of the most significant findings. You have fully addressed all parts of the prompt, ensuring a logical flow of information from the general categories to the specific satisfaction metrics.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The response is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. You have used a standard structure: an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on the chart and the table respectively. Cohesive devices such as 'Specifically', 'Overall', 'Looking first at', and 'Turning to the table' are used effectively to guide the reader through the data. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and referencing is clear throughout the text. The information is presented in a way that is easy to follow, and the relationship between the different data points is clearly established.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary appropriate for an academic task. Phrases such as 'accounted for the largest proportion', 'constituted the smallest group', and 'recorded the highest proportion' are used accurately and naturally. The vocabulary is precise and contributes to the formal tone required for this task. While the range is sufficient and effective, it could be further enhanced by incorporating more varied synonyms for 'proportion' or 'recorded' to avoid slight repetition. However, the current usage is accurate and fits the context well, with no errors that impede communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.5
Your writing displays a high level of grammatical control. You have used a variety of complex sentence structures, such as the use of participial phrases ('followed by...') and subordinate clauses ('while academic staff constituted...'). The punctuation is accurate, and the majority of your sentences are error-free. The use of comparative structures is particularly strong, which is essential for this type of task. There are no significant grammatical errors, and the control over tense and subject-verb agreement is consistent throughout the response, reflecting a high level of proficiency.
