Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

You have successfully identified the main features of both the chart and the table. You covered all categories of users and provided a breakdown of satisfaction levels. However, the response lacks a clear overview or summary statement that highlights the most significant trends or comparisons. For example, you could have noted that while satisfaction with staff is very high, satisfaction with library facilities like Wi-Fi and journals is notably lower. To reach a higher band, ensure you synthesize the data rather than simply listing the figures for each category, which currently makes the report feel like a mechanical list of statistics.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader navigate the information. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. Phrases like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In last' are used to structure the text, but the flow between sentences is often abrupt. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence '5% staff is fairly satisfied', where it is ambiguous whether you mean 5% of the staff or 5% of the users. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between data points would enhance the logical progression of your report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to describe the data clearly. You use terms like 'ratio', 'satisfied', and 'availability' correctly. However, the range is somewhat limited and repetitive, as you frequently rely on the same phrasing ('users are very satisfied', 'users are fairly satisfied'). To improve, try to incorporate more varied synonyms and precise collocations to describe trends and proportions. For instance, instead of repeating 'number ratio', you could use 'proportion', 'percentage', or 'share'. The word choice is generally accurate, but lacks the sophistication required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, though there are several grammatical errors. For example, 'Distance learning are of 8%' should be 'Distance learners account for 8%', and 'in last it's full-time undergraduate' is grammatically awkward. There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and preposition usage, such as '5% staff is fairly satisfied' (should be '5% of users'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the data, they occur frequently enough to limit your score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and using more precise verb forms to describe statistical data.
