Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The response effectively addresses all parts of the task. You have provided a clear overview of the user categories and satisfaction levels, and you have successfully selected and reported the main features. The comparisons made, such as contrasting the high satisfaction with staff helpfulness against the lower satisfaction for journals and Wi-Fi, are relevant and well-supported by the data. The information is accurately presented, and the structure allows for a logical flow of data points. To reach a higher band, ensure that you consistently highlight the most significant trends rather than just listing figures, although your current approach is already quite effective.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The response is well-organized with a clear logical progression. You have used paragraphing effectively to separate the user categories from the satisfaction survey results. Cohesive devices such as 'whereas', 'in terms of', 'regarding', and 'by comparison' are used appropriately to link ideas and guide the reader through the data. The information is sequenced logically, starting with an overview, followed by the user breakdown, and concluding with the satisfaction metrics. The flow is smooth and the relationship between the different parts of the data is clear throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You have used a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information accurately. Phrases like 'accounted for the smallest proportion', 'received positive feedback', and 'represented' demonstrate a good command of language suitable for an academic report. The vocabulary is precise and fits the context well. While the range is adequate for the task, incorporating a few more sophisticated collocations or varied synonyms for 'satisfied' (e.g., 'content', 'dissatisfied', 'approval ratings') could further enhance the lexical variety and elevate the score to the highest level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.5
The response displays a good variety of complex structures, such as the use of subordinate clauses ('while the table shows...', 'whereas academic staff accounted for...') and comparative structures. The majority of your sentences are error-free, and your control over punctuation and tense is consistent. There are no significant grammatical errors that impede communication. To achieve a higher score, you could experiment with more diverse sentence beginnings or slightly more complex syntactic structures, but the current level of accuracy and range is already very strong.
