Categories of library users
Student answer (Band 5.0)
The chart illustrates the types of library users and the table gives information on user's satisfaction. Both, measures in percentage.
Overall, most of the library users are full-time undergraduate and satisfaction level is in top notch because of staffs are kind enough to help them.
Though, there is availability of journals, satisfaction level was very low than other sections. Moreover, in this part, user's are disappointed most as it is four times more than fairly satisfied of helpfulness of staff which was 5%. Additionally, poor number of academic staff are using library facilities which is only 7%. Then, 8% users are from distance learning for all courses. Added that, double of the distance learning are the users from part-time postgraduate.
In conclusion, available on books are in the midpoint of user's experience. Rather, library starting times are efficient for all the users that is the reason there is not have any negative review.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to summarise the data, but it fails to provide a clear overview or accurately report the main features. The description of the data is often confusing; for example, the claim that satisfaction is 'top notch' is not supported by the data, and the interpretation of the journal satisfaction figures is inaccurate. The response struggles to make meaningful comparisons between the categories. While it identifies some figures, the lack of clarity in presenting the data means the main trends are not effectively highlighted. To improve, focus on identifying the most significant data points and grouping them logically rather than listing individual figures without context.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or misused, such as 'Though, there is availability' and 'Added that'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the relationship between the ideas. The transition between the chart and the table is abrupt, and the conclusion does not effectively summarise the main findings, instead introducing new, somewhat confusing observations about library opening times which are not clearly supported by the provided data. Improved use of linking words and clearer topic sentences would enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often imprecise. Phrases like 'top notch' are too informal for an academic report. There are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'poor number of academic staff' (instead of 'a small percentage') and 'available on books'. The repetition of 'satisfaction level' and 'users' indicates a restricted range. To achieve a higher band, you should aim to use more precise academic vocabulary to describe trends and proportions, such as 'a significant proportion', 'the majority', or 'a marginal figure', and ensure that your word choices are appropriate for a formal report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('staffs are kind', 'user's are disappointed'), article usage, and sentence structure ('Both, measures in percentage', 'there is not have any negative review'). The range of structures is limited, relying mostly on simple sentences with some errors in complex constructions. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of apostrophes in plural nouns. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve the clarity and accuracy of your writing.
