Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0
The response is excellent. You have successfully identified and reported the main features of both the pie chart and the table. The overview clearly highlights the key trends, such as the dominance of full-time undergraduates and the high satisfaction levels regarding staff helpfulness. You have made effective comparisons throughout, such as contrasting the high satisfaction with staff against the lower satisfaction regarding journals and Wi-Fi. All data points are accurately represented, and the information is well-selected to provide a comprehensive summary of the provided visual data.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, a concise overview, and well-structured body paragraphs that separate the user categories from the satisfaction levels. The progression of ideas is smooth, and you have used cohesive devices effectively, such as 'whereas', 'in terms of', 'regarding', and 'similarly'. Paragraphing is used appropriately to group related information, which makes the report very easy to follow. The flow between sentences is natural and contributes to a coherent overall structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary appropriate for an academic report. Phrases such as 'constituted the largest group', 'accounted for', 'comprising just', and 'mixed response' are used accurately. The language is precise and fits the context of describing statistical data well. While the vocabulary is functional and accurate, incorporating a few more sophisticated synonyms or collocations related to data analysis could elevate the response further, but the current range is more than sufficient for a high band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.5
The grammar is highly accurate throughout the text. You have used a variety of sentence structures, including complex sentences with subordinate clauses, which are handled with control. Punctuation is used correctly, and there are no significant errors that impede communication. The use of past tense to describe the survey results is consistent and appropriate. The majority of your sentences are error-free, reflecting a strong command of English grammar.
