Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers all parts of the task, providing a clear overview and highlighting key features from both the chart and the table. You successfully identify the highest and lowest categories and make relevant comparisons regarding satisfaction levels. The data is accurately reported, and the main trends are well-summarized. To reach a higher band, ensure that all comparisons are fully supported by the data; for instance, when mentioning that availability of journals and wi-fi were 'almost uniformly' registered, providing the specific figures would have strengthened the analysis. Overall, the response is well-focused and meets the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. You use paragraphing effectively to separate the categories of users from the satisfaction levels. Cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'In terms of', 'Regarding', and 'Meanwhile' are used to guide the reader through the information. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing could be more precise in the final paragraph. For example, the phrase 'registered at almost uniformly' is grammatically awkward and disrupts the flow. Improving the variety and naturalness of your linking phrases would enhance the overall coherence of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey information with some precision. Phrases like 'comprised the highest proportion' and 'negligible' are used appropriately. However, there are some instances of imprecise word choice and awkward collocations, such as 'scholars were very satisfied by kindness of staff' (should be 'with the kindness') and 'ecstatic students' (which is too informal and emotive for a data report). Additionally, 'calibrated in percentages' is slightly unnatural in this context. Focusing on more academic collocations and avoiding overly emotive adjectives will help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'full-time undergraduate contributed' (should be plural 'undergraduates'), 'ratio of dissatisfaction... were' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'registered at almost uniformly' (incorrect adverb usage). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher band. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions and adverbs when describing statistical data.
