Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0
The response is excellent and fully addresses all parts of the task. You have successfully identified the main features of both the pie chart and the table, providing a clear overview and supporting the data with accurate figures. The comparison between the two postgraduate groups is a particularly strong analytical touch. You have effectively selected the most relevant information to report, ensuring the summary is comprehensive without being cluttered. The structure is logical, and the inclusion of a clear overview paragraph at the beginning demonstrates a high level of task fulfillment. No significant information was omitted, and the data is presented with precision.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The response is well-organized and flows logically from the general overview to the specific data points. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the two distinct datasets (user categories and satisfaction levels). You have employed a range of cohesive devices, such as 'whereas', 'notably', 'similarly', and 'in terms of', which help to guide the reader through the information smoothly. The progression of ideas is clear, and the referencing between the categories and the satisfaction metrics is handled with ease. The text is coherent throughout, and the use of cohesive devices is neither mechanical nor excessive.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.5
You demonstrate a wide and flexible range of vocabulary that is well-suited to the task. Phrases such as 'constituted the largest proportion', 'recorded the highest level of dissatisfaction', and 'expressed very high satisfaction' show a sophisticated command of language. The use of collocations is accurate, and you avoid repetition by using varied terminology to describe the data. There is a clear awareness of style, and the vocabulary is precise enough to convey the information without ambiguity. There are no noticeable errors in word choice or spelling that would impede the reader's understanding.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.5
The response displays a wide range of grammatical structures, including complex sentences and accurate use of subordinate clauses. The majority of sentences are error-free, and your control over punctuation is excellent. You have used a variety of verb tenses and structures appropriately to report the data, such as the passive voice in 'was recorded' and 'were reported'. There is a minor typo at the start of the final paragraph ('he' instead of 'The'), but this is a rare slip that does not detract from the overall high quality of the writing. The grammatical accuracy is very high throughout.
