Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement. While you have identified the main categories of users, the analysis is very brief and lacks the depth required for an Academic Task 1 response. You have not fully compared the data provided in the table regarding satisfaction levels; for instance, you state that 'all' users are very satisfied, which is a generalization that ignores the specific percentages provided for different categories. To improve, you must ensure you reach the word count and provide a more detailed, analytical breakdown of the data, ensuring all parts of the prompt are addressed thoroughly.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into short paragraphs, which helps with readability. However, the progression of ideas is limited due to the brevity of the text. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'Overall' and 'While', but the connections between sentences are somewhat mechanical. To reach a higher band, you should aim to link your ideas more fluidly and use a wider variety of cohesive devices to show the relationship between the different data points, such as contrasting the satisfaction levels of different user groups more explicitly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is quite limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'mostly recorded' and 'composed of' are used, but there is little attempt to use more sophisticated or precise academic vocabulary to describe trends or data. To improve, try to incorporate more varied terminology related to data analysis, such as 'the majority of,' 'a significant proportion,' or 'the figures indicate.' Expanding your range of synonyms will help you describe the chart and table more effectively and professionally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'the mostly recorded library users' (should be 'the most common') and 'very satisfied from the services' (should be 'satisfied with'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the sentence structure lacks the complexity needed for higher bands. To improve, focus on using a wider range of grammatical structures, such as passive voice or relative clauses, and pay closer attention to correct preposition usage and word order to ensure your writing is more accurate.
