Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response effectively summarizes the main features of the chart and table, outlining the categories of library users and satisfaction levels. The main trends are correctly identified, such as the predominance of full-time undergraduates and the specific ratings of satisfaction. However, it could provide a more comprehensive analysis by summarizing all groups and their satisfaction levels more clearly. Additionally, a more detailed comparison between user categories and their satisfaction could enhance the response. Overall, this is a strong task achievement, but full marks cannot be awarded due to minor omissions in detail.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The coherence and cohesion in the response are generally strong, with logical organization and clear flow of ideas. The use of linking phrases, such as "Overall" and "In contrast," helps guide the reader. However, more explicit comparisons could improve cohesion, particularly when discussing satisfaction ratings between different categories of users. Paragraphing could be slightly more distinct, particularly in differentiating descriptions of user categories from satisfaction levels. This consistency is essential for guiding the reader through the various data points more smoothly.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The lexical resource is suitable for the task, demonstrating a good range of vocabulary related to the topic. Words like "constitute," "satisfaction," and "helpfulness" are used accurately. However, there are some instances of less precise expressions, for example, "receive the lowest rating" could be replaced with "record the lowest satisfaction scores." Adding variation in vocabulary would enhance this score, especially in discussing survey results. Overall, the vocabulary is appropriate but could be more varied and precise in certain areas.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
Grammatical range and accuracy are well-demonstrated throughout the response. The writer utilizes a variety of sentence structures, including complex sentences, which is commendable. There are minor errors, such as missing punctuation in "postgraduates(25%)" and a missing article in "the helpfulness of staff." Nonetheless, these do not significantly hinder comprehension. The grammatical control displayed is consistent with a Band 7 score, although addressing these small inaccuracies could enhance credibility and clarity in the response.
Overall feedback
Your response showcases a good understanding of the main features of the data presented. You effectively identify key trends and provide relevant descriptions. However, to achieve a higher score, consider offering a more in-depth comparison between user categories and their satisfaction levels. Additionally, refining coherence by improving transitions and separating ideas into clearer paragraphs could enhance readability. Lastly, expanding your vocabulary and reducing minor grammatical errors will contribute positively to your overall score.
