Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main features of both the pie chart and the table. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with relevant data. However, the report could be improved by making more direct comparisons between the categories rather than just listing the data points. For instance, noting that full-time undergraduates are more than five times as numerous as academic staff would provide a more analytical approach. Additionally, ensure that all data points are accurately transcribed; for example, you mentioned 95% for staff helpfulness, but the report should ensure all categories are clearly linked to the specific survey questions provided in the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized into paragraphs, with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'in contrast', 'however', and 'respectively' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions between sentences feel abrupt. The use of referencing is generally clear, but the paragraphing could be more refined to separate the chart data from the table data more distinctly. Improving the variety of linking words would help the text flow more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information, using terms like 'proportion', 'illustrates', and 'depicts'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'satisfied from helpfulness' (should be 'satisfied with the helpfulness') and 'disappointing factors was about' (should be 'disappointing factor was'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To reach a higher band, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensuring prepositions are used correctly with adjectives like 'satisfied'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the majority of student' should be 'the majority of students') and prepositions ('Regarding to' is incorrect; use 'Regarding' or 'With regard to'). There are also some punctuation and capitalization slips, such as starting a sentence with a lowercase letter ('the proportion form satisfaction'). These errors are frequent enough to prevent a higher score, though they rarely cause confusion for the reader.
