The pie chart depicts different categories of library users at a university, and the table shows the percentages of user satisfaction.

Overall, the full-time undergraduates is the major group accessing the library, whereas the academic staff has the lowest share. Library staff have the highest satisfaction rates, while people are least staisfied with the availability of journals.

Distance learning students of all courses accounted for 8% of total users.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task by summarizing the main features of both the pie chart and the table. You successfully identified the largest and smallest user groups and highlighted key satisfaction trends. However, the report is somewhat incomplete; the final sentence is unfinished ('while 5% of the users are fairy stisfied'), which leaves the data presentation incomplete. To reach a higher band, ensure all data points mentioned are fully articulated and that the summary provides a complete overview without trailing off. The comparison between categories is clear, but more precise synthesis of the data would strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs focusing on the two distinct data sets. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the categories of users from the satisfaction levels. Cohesive devices such as 'whereas', 'while', and 'conversely' are used to link ideas effectively. However, the flow is slightly disrupted by the incomplete final sentence. The progression of information is generally clear, but the transition between the two paragraphs could be smoother to better integrate the two different types of data presented in the prompt.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'depicts', 'proportions', and 'accounted for' correctly. There are some spelling errors, such as 'staisfied' and 'fairy stisfied', which are distracting. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main points, it lacks the sophistication or precision required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more varied reporting verbs and ensuring accurate spelling of key terms. The repetition of 'users' and 'satisfied' could also be mitigated by using synonyms or rephrasing sentences to improve lexical variety.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('the full-time undergraduates is', 'Availability of books have') and minor punctuation or phrasing slips. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. The attempt at complex structures is evident, but accuracy needs to be improved. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and proofreading for typos would significantly enhance the quality of your writing.
