Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response covers all key features of the data, including the breakdown of user categories and the satisfaction levels. You have successfully identified the main trends, such as the dominance of full-time undergraduates and the high satisfaction with staff helpfulness. However, the report could be improved by making more direct comparisons between the two datasets where possible, rather than presenting them as two separate blocks of information. The overview is clear and provides a good summary of the main points, which is essential for a high band score. Ensure that all figures are accurately transcribed to avoid minor inaccuracies in reporting.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on the chart and the table respectively. Cohesive devices such as 'while', 'conversely', and 'whereas' are used effectively to link ideas. However, the transition between the two body paragraphs could be smoother to create a more integrated analysis. The use of referencing is generally clear, though some sentences could be better connected to improve the flow of information. Overall, the structure is easy to follow and the progression of ideas is logical throughout the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You have used a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe the data, such as 'depicts', 'accounted for', and 'proportions'. There are some minor errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'staisfied' and 'fairy satisfied', which slightly detract from the professional tone. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise collocations related to data description, such as 'constituted the largest segment' or 'exhibited the highest level of satisfaction'. The vocabulary is adequate for the task, but more variety and precision would enhance the quality of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that affect accuracy, such as subject-verb agreement issues: 'the full-time undergraduates is' (should be 'are'), 'Availability of books have' (should be 'has'), and 'Availability of journals have' (should be 'has'). Additionally, there are some minor punctuation and phrasing errors. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher band score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage will significantly improve your grammatical accuracy.
