Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The response effectively addresses all parts of the task. You have provided a clear overview of the data, highlighting the main trends in user categories and satisfaction levels. The selection of data is accurate, and you have made relevant comparisons, such as noting that academic staff were the smallest group while staff helpfulness received the highest satisfaction. The information is well-supported by the figures provided in the prompt. To reach a higher band, ensure that you consistently link the data points across the table and chart to provide a more integrated analysis, rather than treating them as two separate sections.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The response is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. You have used paragraphing effectively to separate the user categories from the satisfaction data. Cohesive devices such as 'whereas', 'in terms of', and 'regarding' are used appropriately to guide the reader through the information. The flow between sentences is smooth, and the referencing is clear throughout. The structure is professional and easy to follow, meeting the requirements for a high band score in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You have demonstrated a good range of vocabulary appropriate for an academic report. Phrases like 'constituted by far the largest group', 'accounted for', and 'received favourable feedback' show a level of sophistication. The terminology is precise and relevant to the context of a university survey. While the vocabulary is accurate and effective, incorporating a few more nuanced collocations or varied synonyms for 'satisfied' or 'dissatisfied' could further enhance the lexical range and precision of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.5
The writing displays a high level of grammatical control. You have successfully used a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as the opening complex sentence and the use of participial phrases like 'with only 5% being fairly satisfied'. The majority of your sentences are error-free, and the punctuation is used correctly to manage information. There are no significant grammatical errors that impede communication. To aim for a higher band, you could experiment with more varied complex structures, such as passive voice constructions or conditional clauses, to demonstrate even greater flexibility.
