Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. While you have attempted to identify some main features, the summary is incomplete and ends abruptly mid-sentence. The data interpretation is also somewhat confused; for instance, stating a 'difference of 9%' between groups is not a clear way to report the data. To improve, ensure you cover all categories presented in the visual aids and provide a clear, logical overview of the data. Because the response is unfinished and under-length, it does not fully address the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear structure and logical progression. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the ideas within the paragraphs are disjointed and difficult to follow. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes misused, such as 'In contrast to table' and 'at first', which do not effectively guide the reader through the data. The abrupt ending further disrupts the flow of the response. To improve, focus on using transition words more accurately and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that relates back to the overall summary.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, often relying on basic phrasing to describe the data. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'output of a library user satisfaction' and 'at difference of 9%'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the precision required for Academic Task 1. To improve, try to incorporate more varied verbs and nouns to describe trends and comparisons, such as 'account for', 'represent', 'a significant proportion', or 'a marginal difference'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('the category... as high', 'others shows') and article usage. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and the attempt at more complex structures is often marred by errors, such as the final incomplete sentence. Punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like pluralization and verb tense consistency. Increasing the variety of sentence structures will also help improve your score.
