Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which negatively impacts the score. While you have identified the main features of the pie chart, the description of the table regarding satisfaction is underdeveloped. You mention 65% and 35% but fail to clearly link these figures to the specific categories or provide a meaningful comparison. The overview is present but lacks depth. To improve, ensure you provide a more comprehensive summary of all data points presented in the prompt and ensure you meet the minimum length requirement to allow for full development of your ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical. For example, the transition 'And the other massive category' is informal and lacks academic tone. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'the first and second one', which makes the flow of information feel slightly disjointed. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect your sentences and ideas more naturally, ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, logical progression.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety expected at higher bands. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'The numerous users of library' and 'The other three categories'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'in counting' and 'do not be fulfilled', which sound unnatural. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary to describe data trends and avoid repeating the same sentence structures. Expanding your range of synonyms for 'users', 'percentage', and 'satisfaction' will significantly enhance your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. For instance, 'The pie chart and table illustrates' contains a subject-verb agreement error. Other issues include 'thats have the 44% in counting' and 'No.of full-time postgraduate are 25%', which are grammatically incorrect. Punctuation and article usage also need attention. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and sentence construction. Proofreading for common errors like missing articles or incorrect verb forms will help you achieve a higher level of accuracy.
