Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have successfully identified the main features of both the chart and the table. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with relevant data. However, the response could be improved by making more direct comparisons between the categories in the pie chart rather than just listing them. For instance, noting that the combined total of undergraduates and postgraduates accounts for the vast majority of users would strengthen the analysis. Additionally, ensure that all data points mentioned are accurate; for example, you stated that 'Part-time postgraduates percentage is double as compared to distance learner users', but the data shows 15% vs 8%, which is nearly double, but not exactly. Precision is key in Task 1.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is logically organized into paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs for the chart and table, and a summary. The progression of ideas is generally clear. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical. Phrases like 'It is clear that' and 'It can be seen that' are used repeatedly, which makes the flow feel a bit repetitive. To reach a higher band, try to use a wider variety of linking words and transition phrases to connect your sentences more fluidly, such as 'In contrast,' 'Furthermore,' or 'Conversely,' to show the relationship between the different data points more effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have used an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'proportion,' 'satisfaction level,' and 'availability.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'Full-time postgraduates covers one third portion' is slightly awkward; 'accounts for one-third of the total' would be more natural. Additionally, 'Reliability of using wi-fi almost at 50%' is grammatically incomplete. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise reporting verbs and adjectives—such as 'constitutes,' 'represents,' or 'a significant majority'—would help elevate your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. For instance, 'Full-time postgraduates covers' should be 'cover' (subject-verb agreement), and 'The table provides the satisfaction level is at highest' is missing a preposition or needs rephrasing, such as 'The table shows that satisfaction levels are highest regarding...'. There are also minor issues with articles and prepositions. To improve, focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed accurately.
