Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While the main features of the data are identified, the analysis is superficial and lacks the necessary depth to fully satisfy the task. The summary is repetitive, and the comparison between categories is underdeveloped. To improve, you must ensure you reach the minimum length by providing a more detailed overview and extending your analysis of the data points, rather than simply listing the percentages for each category.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is organised into short paragraphs, which helps with readability. However, the progression of ideas is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. The use of cohesive devices is limited, relying heavily on phrases like 'In case of' to start sentences, which makes the writing feel formulaic. To achieve a higher band, you should use a wider variety of linking words and transition phrases to connect your ideas more fluidly and improve the overall logical flow of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive. You frequently use the same phrases, such as 'use university library' and 'percentage of', which limits the range of your expression. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'varieties of library users' and 'peoples', which is grammatically incorrect in this context. To improve, focus on using more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'account for', or 'constitute', and avoid repeating the same sentence structures throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are several grammatical errors throughout the text. For example, 'The pie chart illustrate' should be 'illustrates' (subject-verb agreement), and 'undergraduate peoples' is incorrect usage. The sentence structures are simple and lack the complexity required for higher bands. There is a lack of variety in sentence construction, and punctuation is occasionally misused. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and attempt to incorporate more complex sentence structures, such as using relative clauses or participial phrases to combine information.
