Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers all parts of the task by summarizing the chart and the table. You successfully identify the main features, such as the dominance of full-time undergraduates and the high satisfaction levels regarding staff helpfulness. However, the report lacks precision in data interpretation. For example, the description of the table is confusing and contains inaccuracies, such as stating '44% of individuals satisfied with 45%'. The data reporting is somewhat disjointed, and the analysis of the table is not clearly linked to the categories provided. To improve, ensure that every figure mentioned is clearly attributed to the correct category and that comparisons are made more explicitly.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the flow of information is often hindered by awkward phrasing and a lack of clear cohesive devices. While you use transition words like 'Moreover' and 'On the other hand', the internal structure of the sentences is often repetitive or confusing. The referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where the connection between the satisfaction percentages and the categories is muddled. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one will significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'dominant position', 'registered', and 'satisfaction'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and spelling mistakes, such as 'pir chart' instead of 'pie chart', 'fill-time' instead of 'full-time', and 'stultification' which is used incorrectly in this context. These errors occasionally cause confusion for the reader. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensure that your spelling and word forms are accurate. Avoid using complex words if you are not entirely certain of their meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the data... remain same'), incorrect preposition usage, and awkward sentence construction (e.g., 'the value achieve to 8%'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentences being run-on or lacking proper structure. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the overall score. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement and tense consistency will help improve your accuracy.
