Student answer (Band 7.0)
The diagrams given display information about the different people that visit the library and their satisfaction with certain aspects during their stay.
Overall, it is shown that the largest category of people that go to the library are primarily full-time undergraduate students, whereas academic staff occupy the least percentage. Most of its visitors are very satisfied with the aid they are able to receive from staff, but some are unsatisfied by the availability of journals and the reliability of the wi-fi provided.
Several different categories occupy the library, including academic staff, students engaged in distance learning of all courses, part-time postgraduate students, full-time postgraduate students and full-time undergraduate students. The largest capacity is occupied by full-time undergraduate students, sitting at about 44%. This figure is then followed by full-time postgraduate students who fill up a quarter of the library's visitors. Part-time postgraduates secure 16% of the total visits. The categories which use the library the least are those who are involved in distance learning and academic staff, occupying 8% and 7% respectively.
Library user satisfaction varied across several sectors. The quality that gained the greatest satisfaction was the helpfulness of the staff with no negative reviews recorded and almost 100% of the visitors were very satisfied. Most users were also quite satisfied with the library's opening hours, as 65% were very satisfied and none were dissatisfied. The availability of books was met with great satisfaction from half of the library's visitors and only a tenth were not satisfied with that particular area. Figures seen regarding the reliability of the wi-fi are almost similiar, with the most noticeable increase seen in the percentage of people not satisfied (19%). Lastly, the availability of journals was met with the most negative reviews, with a fifth of the library's total visitors being dissatisfied regarding this aspect and only 48% were very satisfied.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all parts of the task. You provided a clear overview of the main trends in both the chart and the table, and you supported these points with relevant data. The comparison between categories is well-handled, and you accurately identified the most and least significant figures. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are described with absolute precision; for instance, when mentioning that 'almost 100%' were satisfied with staff, ensure this aligns exactly with the visual data provided. Overall, the response is well-structured and covers the key features effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
Your response is logically organised, with a clear introduction, a body paragraph for the chart, and a body paragraph for the table. The progression of ideas is smooth, and you use cohesive devices such as 'whereas', 'this figure is then followed by', and 'lastly' to guide the reader. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two distinct datasets. To improve further, try to vary your cohesive devices slightly more to avoid repetitive sentence structures, but overall, the flow of information is clear and easy to follow throughout the entire response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary, using terms like 'occupy', 'secure', 'varied across several sectors', and 'noticeable increase'. This allows for a precise description of the data. There are no significant spelling or word-choice errors that impede communication. To reach the highest bands, you could incorporate more sophisticated collocations or academic phrasing, such as 'constitute a significant proportion' instead of 'fill up a quarter'. However, the current range is sufficient to convey your points with clarity and precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
You use a good mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'The categories which use the library the least are those who are involved in distance learning and academic staff, occupying 8% and 7% respectively.' Your control over grammar is generally strong, with very few errors. Punctuation is used correctly to manage complex sentences. To aim for a higher band, ensure that your subject-verb agreement remains consistent throughout, and continue to experiment with more varied complex sentence forms, such as using passive voice or participle clauses more frequently to enhance the academic tone.
