Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the data, such as the proportions of library users and the satisfaction rates. However, the analysis is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear overview or synthesis of the data. While you have identified the highest and lowest categories, the comparison between the two datasets is weak. The conclusion is slightly repetitive and contains some inaccuracies, such as stating 100% satisfaction for opening hours, which is not clearly supported by the provided table. To improve, focus on grouping data logically and highlighting significant trends rather than listing figures individually.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often repetitive or misused, such as 'AT FIRST' and 'FOR TABLE'. The transition between sentences is sometimes abrupt, and the logical flow is hindered by the way data is presented. While there is a basic attempt at paragraphing, the lack of sophisticated linking words makes the progression of ideas feel mechanical. Improving the variety of transition signals and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear focus would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'covered', 'people', and 'percentage'. There are several spelling errors, such as 'ILLUSTRATS', 'PERSENTAGE', 'CATAGORIES', and 'REPRESTENT', which distract the reader. The range of vocabulary is sufficient to convey the basic meaning, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, you should focus on using more varied reporting verbs and synonyms for data-related terms, and pay closer attention to spelling accuracy.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include incorrect article usage, subject-verb agreement errors (e.g., 'THE PIE CHART ILLUSTRATS'), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'WHEN THE TOPIC OF STAFF HELPFULNESS IS COMING'). Punctuation is also inconsistent. While these errors do not completely prevent the reader from understanding the information, they are frequent enough to impede the flow of the text. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors would be beneficial.
