Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. Because the response is only 73 words, it is severely underdeveloped. While you have attempted to identify some data points from the chart and table, the summary is incomplete and lacks a clear overview of the main trends. You have not provided a sufficient analysis of the information, and the brevity of the response means that the task is only partially addressed. To improve, you must ensure you cover all parts of the prompt, provide a clear overview, and extend your analysis to meet the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response lacks a logical structure. There is no clear paragraphing, and the transition between the pie chart and the table is abrupt. The use of cohesive devices is minimal and mechanical, such as the phrase 'Moving on to table chart'. The ideas are presented as a list of statistics rather than a cohesive summary, which makes the text difficult to follow. To improve, you should organize your report into clear paragraphs: an introduction, an overview of the main trends, and body paragraphs that group related data points together using a variety of linking words.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The range of vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'percentage', 'proportion', and 'data'. There are also errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'table chart provide the data of library user otal' (likely meant 'total') and 'helpfulness staff' (should be 'helpfulness of staff'). The vocabulary used is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary, such as 'a significant majority', 'a marginal proportion', or 'the figures for...'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains several grammatical errors that impede clarity. For example, 'the percentage of highest in very satisfied accounted by helpfulness staff' is grammatically incorrect and confusing. There are also issues with sentence structure, such as the fragment 'where both the categories not satisfied is 0%'. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To improve, focus on using accurate subject-verb agreement and more complex sentence structures, such as using relative clauses or comparative structures to link your data points more effectively.
