Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. While you have identified the main features of the chart and table, the summary is incomplete. The final sentence is cut off mid-thought ('availabilty of journals and relaibilut'), indicating that the task was not finished. To improve, ensure you provide a complete overview and include all relevant data points without leaving sentences unfinished. The failure to complete the response prevents a full development of the information provided in the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'whereas', and 'while' to connect ideas. However, the abrupt ending of the final paragraph disrupts the flow and coherence of the text. To reach a higher band, ensure that your paragraphs are fully developed and that your concluding thoughts are complete. The referencing is generally clear, but the lack of a finished conclusion makes the overall progression feel incomplete.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'outcome', 'survey', and 'satisfaction percentage'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'undergradute', 'relaibilut', and 'availabilty', which detract from the quality of the writing. Additionally, the word choice is sometimes repetitive. To improve, focus on accuracy in spelling and try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary to describe trends and comparisons, such as 'constituted' instead of 'accounted for' or 'proportion' instead of 'percentage'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('availability of journals were the least satisfied' should be 'was') and missing articles. The sentence 'Distance learning and academic staff had a similar percentage of user' should use the plural 'users'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the clarity of your writing. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and pluralization errors.
