Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the data, such as identifying the highest and lowest user categories and summarizing the satisfaction levels. However, the presentation is somewhat disjointed and lacks a clear, professional analytical tone. While the key figures are mentioned, the comparison between the categories and the satisfaction data is not fully integrated, and the summary is repetitive. The inclusion of instructions (e.g., 'make comparisons where relevant') in the opening sentence suggests a misunderstanding of the task requirements. To improve, focus on grouping data logically and ensuring the overview highlights the most significant trends rather than just listing percentages.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow of ideas is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing and grammatical errors. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Furthermore' and 'In contrast,' but they are often applied mechanically or incorrectly, which hinders the logical progression of the report. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the connection between the categories and the satisfaction data. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks the cohesion necessary for a higher band score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'highest,' 'lowest,' and 'people.' There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'library using for very rarely' and 'second stage of people.' Some phrases are awkward or non-standard, which occasionally impedes the clarity of the information. To achieve a higher score, you should aim to use more precise academic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'proportion,' 'majority,' 'minority,' and 'significant,' while ensuring correct word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('full-time undergraduate is the highest users'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, making the text difficult to parse. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, these are often faulty and lead to confusion. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and capitalization. A focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve the clarity of your writing.
