Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the data, such as the user categories and satisfaction levels. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial and lacks a clear, professional tone. The student includes personal opinions, such as 'which is quite good in my opinion', which is inappropriate for an Academic Task 1 report. Furthermore, the description of the table data is fragmented and lacks precise comparative language. While the main trends are identified, the report would benefit from a more structured approach to grouping data and a more objective, analytical style to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'In the last' or 'In the summary we found out'. The flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed, particularly in the description of the table. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between the pie chart analysis and the table analysis is abrupt. Improved use of linking words and better paragraph transitions would enhance the logical progression of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety expected at higher levels. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'having a more involvement' and 'The lag participation'. The student relies on basic descriptors and struggles with collocations related to data reporting. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and there are errors in word choice that detract from the professional tone required for an academic report.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('The chart and table... shows'), incorrect article usage, and awkward sentence construction ('no is not satisfied'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some run-on sentences and misused commas. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to suggest a lack of control over complex structures, which limits the score in this criterion.
